Colchuck Peak-Colchuck Col Route

Colchuck Peak is located approximately 0.8 miles SSW of Colchuck Lake. The route we took to its summit was via the Colchuck Glacier which tops out at the 8200' col between Colchuck and Dragontail peaks. From the south end of Colchuck Lake, ascend on rocks to the foot of the glacier. We stayed on the west side of the massive boulder field where there was a path of sorts. Once on the glacier, a direct ascent to the col can be made (35 to 40 degrees in places, no crevasses encountered). From the col, scramble on the south side of the East Ridge to the summit plateau then up the final summit rocks that lie to the NW. There is a great view of Mt. Stuart, Stuart Lake and Colchuck Lake from the summit.
